Voluntary work is recognised by many employees in the environmental sector as an effective way of developing new skills and putting into practise skills learnt through training. Some organisations offer long term contracts for volunteers during which you can benefit from training and experiencing the job over a number of seasons and during different projects.

On the other hand you may want to volunteer for very different reasons – to meet new people, get out in the fresh air, or give something back to your local community.

Many environmental organisations in Sheffield offer voluntary opportunities – ranging from practical conservation tasks in Sheffield’s fantastic natural environment to administration and project planning in the comfort of an office.
